As an aspiring college graduate, I see myself making a positive impact in my community and in patients’ lives as a pediatrician. I feel that my positive attitude and drive can be assets in my job field to be one of the greatest medical practitioners of our generation. My passion is to decrease the Infant Mortality Rate by educating parents and their children on healthy habits and medical care.
As a young child, I’ve always had the dream to have a career where I would change lives. I believe that my desire to demonstrate empathy for my patients will be greatly influenced by the humbleness instilled by my family early on. We have met a significant amount of struggles that have taught me resilience, compassion and patience. I know with the opportunity to further my education, I can not only change the lives of my patients but also of my family. I want to be able to give back a greater portion and set the example that no matter what circumstances you are given you can still achieve your dreams.
Recently I read a quote from Apple’s Steve Jobs that said “your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to truly be satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.” My dream is blooming into full potential as I work towards my goal of being a successful pediatrician. My financial situation is the only remaining obstacle and given the opportunity, this scholarship will help me to make my mark in my family, community and hopefully the world.
